Prime minister highlighted the transformative reforms and initiatives being undertaken in India and invited her to partner in technology, investment and skilling in the mining and minerals sector.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with senior leaders of the Australian business community during the second day of his visit to AustraliaPM Modi met with Gina Rinehart of the Hancock Prospecting group, an Australian mining firm, in Sydney “Prime Minister highlighted the transformative reforms and initiatives being undertaken in India and invited her to partner in technology, investment and skilling in the mining and minerals sector,” according to a press release by the MEA.
India and Australia have decided to intensify cooperation in mining, particularly after both countries agreed to work together on a critical minerals partnership.
The PM also met with Paul Schroder, Chief Executive of AustralianSuper, which is a superannuation fund based in Melbourne. In an exclusive interview with Mint in December 2022, Australian High Commissioner to India Barry O’Farrell pointed out that Australia’s pension funds could be a key investor in India “We would argue that the second or third largest pension funds in Asia, which are in Australia, will be important in assisting India’s growth trajectory,” he said.
PM Modi also met with prominent Australians including Nobel Prize winning physicist Brian Schmidt, scientist Toby Walsh and singer Guy Theodore Sebastian.
He also participated in an event with the Indian diaspora in Australia, alongside PM Anthony Albanese.
